Jughead has always been one of the most offbeat and original characters in Riverdale. From his iconic hat and wry smile to his “needle nose,” Jughead is instantly recognizable around the world. Everyone knows Archie’s best pal!

In 1949,Jughead became the star of his own comic series “Archie’s Pal Jughead." Over the years, the comic has gone on hiatus twice and changed titles once.

Jughead is about to go on a brief hiatus again.

Archie Comics Director of Publicity & Marketing Adam Tracey sums it up:

“As you’re aware, Archie has been reinventing itself for the last three years. That reinvention process is most visible in books like Life With Archie, Kevin Keller, The Art of Betty & Veronica, the New Crusaders comic, the Sonic Super Special, Archie Comics Super Special and much more. Because Jughead is a very important character to us, that reinvention process will also apply to him. So while we’re putting together exactly how to do that, we’ve put the Jughead comic on hiatus until the relaunch happens. Fans of Jughead can rest assured that they’ll definitely be seeing more of him in the future.”

Jughead relaunch?!? What’s going to happen? When? What will change? Will he still have his crown shaped cap? The answers to all these questions and more can be found right here in future installments of the Archie Blog.

Check back soon!
