Yesterday was the release of one of the year's most anticipated  comics, Kevin Keller #6 featuring guest star George Takei, legendary Star Trek actor. To commemorate the event, Archie Comics teamed with Midtown Comics, New York's most prestigious comic book shop, for a signing with the guest of honor and Dan Parent, who in addition to writer and drawing the issue also created Kevin Keller who burst onto the scene in 2010 as Riverdale's first gay teen.

The event was a smashing success with fans lining up for hours ahead of the 9pm start time to meet their idol and get their copy of Kevin Keller signed. A documentary crew who have been filming George's life for the past couple years were in attendance to capture the action as fans filed in from the cold. Howard Stern Show reporter Lisa G from Howard 100 News was in attendance to get the crowd's reaction.

Takei gave each fan quality face time who had waited so long for the chance to walk away with a signed copy of Kevin Keller #6 to remember the event by. His infectious enthusiasm for his fans and the message behind the comic left the crowd smiling setting a care free tone for the evening. The only thing missing was a real life Kevin!

Thanks to all who attended and especially to George Takei for making the event so special.

For those who didn't make the event, stay tuned to Archie's Facebook and Twitter accounts. George just may have signed a few extra copies...
