The Occupy Movement Comes to Riverdale!

Bleeding Cool recently danged the possibility of an Occupy Riverdale story from Archie Comics and now to make it official! Never one to shy away from what’s happening in the world around us, Archie Comics will give its distinctive spin on the Occupy movement in an upcoming issue from Archie Meets KISS writer Alex Segura with art by Gisele Lagace. Bleeding Cool teased the possibility of an Occupy storyline earlier this month but now Archie Comics can confirm the rumor with the unveiling of this variant cover from Eisner Award winning painter Jill Thompson. Previously, Thompson gave fans a taste of her distinct take on the Archie cast on her Tumblr featuring Betty, Jughead, Archie and Veronica.

From the cover image we can ascertain that things are heating up in Riverdale and Archie appears to be caught in the middle. Archie is often at odds with his affections for frequent flames Betty and Veronica (and most recently Valerie of the Pussycats) but how will he handle picking sides when his entire town is divided? Stay tuned as this story develops!

PREVIEW: KISS Rocks Archie in a stunning conclusion!

It’s been an unbelievably bizarre journey but all good things must come to an end! Next Wednesday, the event that’s been rocking the comic world ever since last November will reach its thrilling conclusion and Ultimate Classic Rock has your preview of Archie Meets KISS Part 4! The crossover that nobody saw coming has sent Archie and friends on a wild ride filled with zombies, music, close calls, plus Sabrina the Teenage Witch! Oh yeah, and four dudes in black leather and makeup collectively known round the world as KISS!

An event signing in LA, three stellar issues, and a zombified Mr. Weatherbee later, we’re now closing in on the home stretch of this mega smash! When we last left off, The Archies and KISS were at the mercy of the fun-hating monsters that had descended on Riverdale. Will our heroes be able to turn it around in the remaining pages and save the town from the zombie wasteland it’s become? Read your ARCHIE COMICS on FACEBOOK via the GRAPHICLY COMICS APP

Already considered a leader in the realm of digital comics, as The Huffington Post reports, Archie has now taken it one step further by integrating digital comics directly onto the Archie Facebook page, giving over one hundred thousand fans access to Archie’s digital library via Graphicly. Archie CEO Jon Goldwater expounds on this new initiative with this, “We want Archie to be available to everyone everywhere. We want to create a one-stop shop -- an Archie "superstore" that'll serve everyone's needs. That's the goal. Digital is part of that over-arching plan.”

Whether it’s the Archie Meets KISS crossover or Kevin Keller’s wedding in Life with Archie, one word keeps coming up again and again to describe the current state of the decades old publisher – Progressive. Capitalizing on this perception, Archie continues to go where no comic book publisher has gone before; stretching the limits of what is possible in the digital market and making it easier than ever for fans to have access to Archie’s array of titles.

In terms of Facebook numbers, Archie is in league with the top publishers having the third highest fan base online overall illustrating Archie’s viral reach. This should see continued growth as digital sales continue to rise. Goldwater states, “Our Archie Comics app, which is powered by the team at iVerse, has been downloaded close to 4 million times, and our comics are routinely among the most downloaded titles.” To top it off, Archie will also launch the first-ever digital superhero universe with our Red Circle Comics app just to cover all bases. In addition, Robot 6 picked up on this major step in digital distribution.
