What To Get Dad

Hi gang.

It’s raining here today, so I don’t have to mow lawns this morning. That’s good because I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had time to get my dad anything for Father’s Day. Its tomorrow, you know.

So today I’m going shopping. Dad usually never reads my blog, so I can tell you what I’m getting him. My dad loves to grill, so I’m going to buy him a bag of nice wood chips, some tongs, and Al Roker’s new bar-b-q book. I saw it in the book store the other day. Basically, I’m getting him everything he needs to make some awesome bar-b-q ribs! (Everything but the ribs, that is. They’re expensive.)

What are you getting your dad this year? Just curious.

A day of extremes -

Hi gang!

Boy has this been a day of extremes. I got off work early because it began to rain really hard, and grass doesn’t cut so good when it’s all wet. So, I went to Pop’s. Reggie was there and, boy, was he upset!

If you haven’t been by his blog, you should go check on him. I’m sure he’ll talk about this. I didn’t know what to say, so I bought him a chocolate shake. That always works for Jug.

Speaking of Jug, he came running in while Reggie was talking to me. He was so excited! He got a job, too – taking surveys for a new business in town called The Opinion Place. I guess corporations hire people to ask questions and see what the public likes before they open a new business.

Jug doesn’t have to work in an office, he can just ask people questions and then report the results. He says he’s gonna set up shop right here at Pop’s at his favorite spot at the counter. He’ll see gobs of people here!

I bought Jug a chocolate shake too, to celebrate.

What a day.

Cheer Up, Reg!

Hi gang.

Boy, is Reggie bummed. I guess you’ve heard his dad wants him to get a summer job. Oh, it’s not for the money; he has plenty of that. It’s supposed to help him “build character.” Actually, that’s not a bad idea. (Don’t tell him I said that.)

So, we were all sitting around Pop’s last night talking. It was great, cause it wasn’t a school night - won’t have one of those for awhile. Anyway, Reg hasn’t found a job yet. He went to the BMW dealership and asked if they needed a test driver. One of the banks in town is looking for a vice-president, so he applied for that too. One thing about Reggie – he’s confident – but not very realistic.

I told him my boss is hiring. I’m working for a lawn mowing service this summer. Reggie said getting hot and sweaty doesn’t appeal to him unless it’s for something worthwhile – like football.

Jug is looking for a summer job, too. So is Moose. Chuck already got a job; he’s a counselor at Summer Camp. I told Reggie that I’m sure he’ll find something soon. If you see him, you might want to encourage him a little.
