THIS FEBRUARY, ARCHIE TAKES SONIC FANS FULL CIRCLE WITH THE NEW "SONIC UNIVERSE" SERIES!

For over 15 years Archie has been as important a part of Sonic's mythology as the various video games and animated series that bear his name. In fact, in many of the various spin-off comic series, from the mini-series to the 48-page specials to the ongoing monthly series, Archie both adapted famous characters and storylines from the video games and animated shows as well as added a unique spin to each. Furthermore, Archie Comics also added new characters and situations to the canon. For many Sonic fans, the Archie Sonic comics are considered the glue that holds the various interpretations of their hero together.

This February, Archie Comics' role as definitive guardian of the canon will be truer than ever, as everything comes together in a new series called SONIC UNIVERSE. This series will unify the various Sonic continuities as never before, tying up loose ends and making connections for a cohesive, unified continuity. Along the way, we'll deliver some of the popular supporting cast from the many Sonic video games, including many who have never appeared in the comics before!

To underscore Archie's importance to Sonic continuity, there is a major tie-in between the first issue of SONIC UNIVERSE and the latest installment of the SONIC ARCHIVES reprint series, also shipping in February. SONIC UNIVERSE #1 starts with a bang. In the story "Living Weapons," Shadow and Metal Sonic continue their series-spanning fight and wind up in a whole new dimension! As we continue to re-envision Sonic's future, fans can also look to the past by picking up SONIC ARCHIVES #10 to revisit classic Sonic stories, or read them for the very first time. It truly brings things full circle for fans!

Meanwhile, things are as chaotic as ever over in the regular monthly SONIC THE HEDGHOG series, as issue #197 finds Sonic with his hands full dealing with Scourge the Hedgehog, Sally being accused of treason, a lockdown of zones and a new threat that looms on the horizon. These events will have an impact upon the events that transpire in SONIC UNIVERSE, providing a unified and ongoing continuity as the storylines and cast of characters expand. If ever there was a time to jump on board and become a Sonic reader, that time is now! Be sure to order these February-shipping issues:

THE ARCHIES: GREATEST HITS VOLUME ONE
Everyone's heard the hit song "Sugar Sugar" and children of the 1970s remember The Archies band from Saturday morning cartoons, but did you know the band actually started in comic books? Inspired by the runaway success of guitar-and-vocal groups like the Beatles, Byrds and Beach Boys, The Archies made their debut in a 1967 issue of "Life with Archie." But that was only the beginning. Looking for a group to follow-up his mega-successful singing group and TV comedy sensations The Monkees, music producer Don Kirschner found the answer when he spotted The Archies in his child's comic book. It wasn't long before a group of studio musicians became The Archies "for real," and began recording music that would become bubblegum pop standards. Simultaneously, the first series of Saturday morning Archie cartoons was developed and it was decided to have The Archies band in the animation as well. THE ARCHIE SHOW premiered on the CBS network on September 14, 1968. An ARCHIES album followed shortly thereafter and the hit single, "Sugar Sugar," became the top-selling single of 1969. The rest, as they say, is musical history! Now fans can relive that history with some of The Archies' most tuneful tales. Features painstaking restoration from original publishing elements, and a special foreword by Ron Dante, the famed singing voice of Archie and a successful singer-songwriter, musician and producer of such multi-platinum acts as Barry Manilow, Cher and Pat Benatar.

LOOK BACK IN LAUGHTER WITH ARCHIE COMICS!

Archie Comics have always inspired a sense of nostalgia in their readers. That's because the company has always strived to keep the stories faithful to the fads and fashions of each decade in which they were published.

It's also because the stories traded in Americana. By setting the tales in the fabled town of Riverdale, an"everytown" mirror vision of suburbia where everyone knows each other by name, the company cemented Archie Comics as a safe haven for cherished memories. Such memories were made of skinned knees and bee stings, followed by sock hops and drive-ins, and ultimately protests and progress.

Where Archie comics really resonate for readers is in the notion that "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

This February, a trio of stories examines this notion as only Archie Comics can, with its trademark humor coupled with heartwarming poignancy. You won't want to miss these hysterical trips down memory lane!

THIS FEBRUARY, WATCH THE MAGIC UNFOLD IN THE MILESTONE 100th ISSUE OF SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH!

For over 45 years, Sabrina the Teenage Witch has been a pop culture phenomenon. From her debut in ARCHIE'S MADHOUSE comics to her successful animated and live-action TV series, Sabrina's popularity has been enduring.

In 2004, having already been the subject of a modern update in the form of Melissa Joan Hart's live-action series, as well as a younger version of the character that appeared in an animated spin-off of the sitcom, Sabrina found herself about to receive yet another makeover. A very special makeover. A MANGA makeover!

It all began when aspiring writer/cartoonist Tania del Rio entered and won a contest that led to her artwork being published in a prestigious collection of new manga talent. Tania's newfound celebrity caught the eye of one of the longest-running comic book publishers in the business... a publisher whose flagship character just happens to have a tic-tac-toe pattern on the side of his red-haired head!

Tania's styling really struck a chord with fans. Month after month, Sabrina readers eagerly awaited the sophisticated mix of magical intrigue, romantic entanglements, and trademark Archie Comics humor that del Rio delivered. Following the style of "shojo" (romance) comics from Japan, Tania not only redesigned the characters to reflect the unique look of manga, but also tapped into the more emotional aspects of shojo storytelling. A key aspect of many shojo manga are tales of romance both told and untold. Tania's new Sabrina stories carried on this tradition, offering romantic intrigue that readers really responded to.

Additionally, del Rio imbued her tales with the complex weight that many manga stories contain. She ultimately combined the romantic, soap opera elements of "shojo" with the more adventurous aspects of "sentai," providing a heft to the series not unlike that enjoyed by fans of Archie's various Sonic the Hedgehog comics. The intrigue was varied in its scope, covering the intimate relationships between characters as well as the fragile dynamics of groups with opposing goals.

Now, over 40 issues later, fans can finally see where it's all been leading in SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #100. In the grand tradition of manga, the story of Sabrina's relationships with Harvey and Shinji, her apprenticeship and adventures in the Magic Realm, and her involvement with the Four Blades movement all come together in one final explosive story you just can't miss! The carefully hidden signs and secrets of the past 42 issues are finally explained and revealed in this dramatic issue. Sides are picked in the ultimate battle against Vosblanc when old friends and enemies return to join the fight! In the thick of it all, Sabrina exhibits her most astounding feat of magic yet, finally uncovering the secret of her amazing power. Still, the battle won't be easy--someone on Sabrina's side won't survive... but who will it be? Will Vosblanc be defeated? Will Sabrina end up with Harvey or Shinji? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain: the Magic Realm will never be the same again!
