ARCHIE & FRIENDS ALL-STARS VOLUME 2: BETTY'S DIARY
Originally appearing as a feature in Archie's Jokebook, then later in its own series as well as in the pages of BETTY, the "Betty's Diary" stories are among the most fondly remembered of all Archie tales, with a tremendous following that exists to this day. Told with first person narrative by Betty herself, the stories focused on the day to day events in her life as she truthfully related them in her diary. Warm, funny, touching, thought provoking, occasionally heartrending, but always told with a down to earth realness, Betty's "diary entries" made fans smile, cheer and think about life. Now readers can relive these oft-requested tales in this upscale edition!

From the original press release...
George Gladir has been selected to receive the 2007 Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing. The choice was made unanimously by a blue-ribbon committee chaired by writer and historian Mark Evanier.
"Each year, we ask ourselves who, among all the fine writers who've contributed to comics has a body of work out there deserving of greater recognition," Evanier notes. "Gladir... laid down important groundwork on which other writers could and did build . . . just like Bill Finger did."
George Gladir has been a full-time comic book writer since 1959, when he got his first assignment from Archie Comics. At first he wrote mainly one-page gags for Archie's Joke Book, but he quickly went on to write stories for the many Archie titles, including Archie's Madhouse, the book in which he created "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," drawn by the legendary Dan DeCarlo. In the early 1960s, he simultaneously started writing for Cracked Magazine, MAD's most successful competitor. He became Cracked's head writer, and over the next 30 years wrote some 2,000 pages for the magazine, many of them illustrated by Hall of Famer John Severin. In addition to still writing for Archie, George recently co-created (with Stan Goldberg) Cindy and Her Obasan, a fantasy adventure about an American 10-year-old and her Japanese fairy godmother.
In addition to Evanier, this year's blue-ribbon selection committee included writer/historian Jim Amash, comics and animation writer Paul Dini, writer Tony Isabella, and writer/editor Marv Wolfman.
The Finger Award falls under the auspices of Comic-Con International: San Diego and is administered by Jackie Estrada. The awards will be presented during the Eisner Awards ceremony at this summer's Comic-Con on Friday, July 27, 2007.

ARCHIE COMIC PUBLICATIONS PARTNERS WITH NICK CANNON'S NCREDIBLE ENTERTAINMENT TO DEVELOP SCRIPTED AND NON-SCRIPTED TV SHOWS BASED ON "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS"
(New York, NY - December 18, 2009) Archie Comic Publications, Inc. is excited to announce a partnership with entertainer and multi-media mogul Nick Cannon's NCredible Entertainment to develop a scripted and non-scripted television series based on "Josie and the Pussycats."
As part of Cannon's vision to revive the famed rock trio, a worldwide search for the new Josie, Melody and Valerie will be chronicled on a potential reality competition series. The plan also includes a possible Josie offshoot, a dramedy scripted series starring the new band members. In addition, Archie plans to launch several new and exciting publishing projects for "Josie and the Pussycats" to coincide with the new series.
"We are thrilled to be working with Nick Cannon and the NCredible Entertainment team," states Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. "His relentless passion and compelling creative vision is exactly what Archie Comics is all about. Through this partnership we envision endless possibilities with Archie's vast library of intellectual properties married with Cannon's range of interests and talents."
"Archie Comics and Josie and the Pussycats are both iconic brands that I am excited to be working with," adds Chairman & CEO of NCredible Entertainment Nick Cannon. "It is my vision to create a multi-platform campaign to bring the "Josie and the Pussycats" brand to life. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to experiencing huge success together.
"Josie and the Pussycats," created at Archie Comics, is the first all-girl rock 'n' roll group in history and is an innovation that changed the face of music.
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Who wants to be a comic-book pop star?
Actor Nick Cannon and Atlantic Records are launching a worldwide search for three girls to resurrect Josie and the Pussycats, a band based on the Archie Comics characters.
Cannon, who dubbed them "the first rock 'n' roll girls group," hopes the search will yield a reality competition series and a scripted comedy-drama, both to air on Nickelodeon's TeenNick channel where he serves as chairman.
The characters inspired two cartoon series in the 1970s and a 2001 live-action feature film starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid and Rosario Dawson.
The "Josie" project is one of many in the works at Cannon's recently launched production company NCredible Entertainment. Its slate includes a comedic year-in-review special that will air on New Year's Day on MTV, and a hip-hop puppet show for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programing block.
NCredible also is venturing into publishing, signing a deal with Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division to produce a multimedia book series to coincide with the upcoming premiere of the Cannon-written and -directed Nickelodeon movie "The School Gyrls."
The film features the NCredible-signed three-girl singing group whose debut album will be released by Island Records. Cannon penned the first book, a movie novelization, and plans to be involved in the writing of the six original novels under the pact. There also are plans for potential second movie and a possible TV series.
Cannon also is making his foray into radio with a daily morning drive show on CBS Radio's WXRK-FM New York (92.3 Now). He debuts on the top-40 station January 19.
"I always wanted to do radio," said Cannon, who has frequently filled in for radio hosts Ryan Seacrest and Steve Harvey.
Cannon, who married Mariah Carey last year, is keeping his summer job and will return as host of NBC's "America's Got Talent" next year.

EMMY AWARD-WINNING WRITER/PRODUCER TACKLES JUGHEAD COMIC
Robot Chicken writer/producer Tom Root Lends Irreverent Humor to Comic Book Icon
Tom Root, co-head writer and co-producer of the Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim--and co-creator/executive producer of the network's upcoming Titan Maximum--brings his patented irreverent humor to the milestone 200th issue of JUGHEAD.
"Something Ventured, Something Gained" takes Riverdale High's fabled teens on their wildest ride ever, as Jughead trades his body's metabolism to a witch in exchange for an irresistible mega cheeseburger... and everything goes bonkers from there with a chain reaction of cataclysmic proportions!
Tom Root has been entertaining comic book and pop culture fans since his days writing "Twisted ToyFare Theatre" stories for ToyFare Magazine.
"Tom Root infuses his scripts with wild humor and energetic storytelling that perfectly fits Jughead," said Archie Comics CEO Jonathan Goldwater.
This won't be the first time Root has tackled the Archie comic book teens. One of Robot Chicken's most popular episodes parodies the Archie Comics characters in a send up of the movie "Final Destination".
"The Archie Comics characters are comedy icons," said Root. "Each character's personality has been so well-defined over the course of nearly 70 years that it was a lot of fun to shake them up and present them with new challenges. Mostly, though, I just wanted to write a funny issue. I hope Archie fans like it!"
Root's comic book debut isn't the only first associated with Jughead's 200th issue--the book will also be available with Archie Comics' first-ever variant cover, by noted comics artist and JUGHEAD penciller Rex Lindsey.
For every three regular issues purchased, the Lindsey variant will be included free.
JUGHEAD #200 retails for $2.50 and will be available March 17.

Robot Chicken writer/producer Tom Root Lends Irreverent Humor to Comic Book Icon
Tom Root, co-head writer and co-producer of the Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim--and co-creator/executive producer of the network's new Titan Maximum--brings his patented irreverent humor to the milestone 200th issue of JUGHEAD.
"Tom Root infuses his scripts with wild humor and great storytelling that perfectly fits Jughead," said Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater.
This won't be the first time Root has tackled the Archie comic book teens. One of Robot Chicken's most popular episodes parodies the Archie Comics characters in a send-up of the movie "Final Destination."
Root's comic book debut isn't the only first associated with Jughead's 200th issue - the book will also be available with Archie Comics' first-ever variant cover, by noted comics artist and JUGHEAD penciller Rex Lindsey. For every three regular issues purchased, the variant will be included free.
JUGHEAD #200 retails for $2.50 and will be available March 17.

ARCHIE & FRIENDS #138 THE THRILLING CONCLUSION TO A TWO-PART STORY REINTRODUCING SOME OF THE MOST MEMORABLE CHARACTERS ARCHIE EVER PUBLISHED!
"Cosmic Cosmosis Part Two": The comic book characters unleashed through the inter-dimensional portal in the previous issue have moved out of the Pep Comics shop and into Archie's world! It's up to Chuck, Archie and their friends to retrieve the characters before they cause too much havoc... but it's not easy to contain a comic book character! However, the comic characters soon realize they aren't a perfect fit for the world of Riverdale. Cubby the Bear finds that the bears of Riverdale are kept in a zoo and don't talk. Cosmo and Orbi discover that most people either don't believe in life on Mars or fear the idea of extraterrestrials. The various monsters of Mad House cause a panic. Captain Sprocket gets in trouble for interfering in police business. And on and on it goes... Will these classic characters from comics' past ever go home, or will they lay down permanent roots in Riverdale? Will Archie and his friends manage to control the four color frenzy, or find themselves trapped in another dimension as well? The answers await you in this thrilling conclusion! And remember: anything can happen in a comic book... especially a comic book about comic books!

DON'T MISS PART THREE OF THE LATEST "NEW LOOK" SAGA THAT TRANSFORMS REGGIE FROM WISE GUY TO ROMEO!
"A Funny Kind of Love Part Three": The gorgeous new girl in town has Reggie's eye... but for how long? It all leads to a dramatic turning point... and a decision that's neither a laughing matter nor up for debate, as far as Reggie is concerned! It's the most unexpected "New Look" story yet , rendered in the "realistic" art style that made Betty and Veronica's "Bad Boy Trouble" and "My Father's Betrayal," Jughead's "The Matchmakers," Moose and Midge's "Break-up Blues," and Archie and his friends' "Goodbye Forever" some of the most talked-about Archie stories in recent years!
