Healthy Hair Tips Part 2

Veronica_1There is an overabundance of hair products out there, from hairspray, to mousse, to gel, wax, lotion, cream, serum, and on and on. Different products work better for different types of hair and styles. But if you want healthy hair, I recommend to make sure that whatever product you use is alcohol-free. Products with alcohol in them dry out your hair and, if used continuously, will cause damage and breakage. I actually use a combo. First I take some hair lotion and hair cream (both alcohol-free), mix it together in my hands, and run it all through my hair. Once a week I use a drop or two of serum before the lotion and cream. If I need to slick down my hair for a style, I use alcohol-free gel. Hairsprays work great for up-dos, but they almost always have alcohol in them, so use sparingly.

Blow-drying your hair dries and damages it as well, so try not to do it too often. If you like your hair straight but have curly hair, you are going to spend a lot of time with your blow-dryer. There are various types of products out there that are made specifically to put in your hair before blow-drying to protect it. But you should still try to limit your blow-drying sessions. If you straighten your hair, try not to wash it for as long as you can without it looking greasy. You can get a good amount of days out of one good blow-dry. And if you use flat irons to straighten your hair, make sure they are ceramic and not metal. Flat ironing too much is really bad for your hair, but ceramics cause less damage. And again, there are pre-ironing products that help to minimize damage.

And one of the most important factors in maintaining healthy hair is trimming it every 6- 8 weeks. That doesn’t mean chopping off your long locks that you worked so hard to grow, it just means cutting off the very ends that are all broken. Go on, take a look at the tips of your hair. If you see that a lot of the strands are split, broken or thinned out at the ends, it is time for a trim! But make sure you tell the hair stylist how much you want cut or else they may get scissor happy on you. But if your hair is really damaged, it may be your best bet to do a major cut.

Be good to your hair, and you will see what a difference it makes!

Yeah, it's ok 2 save up 4 a curling iron and use it, but only on special occasions and rarely. It's fun expirementing and trying new things when u're looking 4 a new hairstyle, just make sure u did ur research b4 trying something extremely different.- Amal*F

Veronica mabye i should follow your advise! My hair frizzy and very very tangley!!! BUT you must be a expert on hair I mean look at your hair it's always fabulous!!!!!!!I bet you have NEVER had a bad hair day in your life!!!!! Thank you for the advise I appreciate it.

OK, Patricia S, if ur hair is frizzy and crazy then I suggest a non-chemical straightening formula. I like Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum. It won the best non-chemical straightening product of 2006 in the stylist choice awards. I know A LOT about hair, mine is thick, layered, and a chocalatey brown color. Oh, and did u hear? brunette is the new blonde! brunette is the hot look this season!
Anyways toodles!
