Youth of the World -- Unite to Create a "World Together Center"

Unfortunately, tragedies such as those that took place on September 11th do occur.

The unspeakable acts of September 11th were the work of misguided individuals who attacked other people merely because they perceived them as being different.

What these individuals fail to understand is that all people are different. Every single person is different from the next. The difference may be in their religion, or it may be in their nationality, their race, their sex, their physical size or shape, their intellect, their athleticism, their skin, hair or eye color, their language, their accent, their preferences in music, movies, fashion, comics -- the list of differences goes on and on.

The point is that you will never, ever, find someone exactly like you -- and that is what makes life interesting and exciting (and, yes, worth living). Could you imagine how unbelievably boring it would be if everyone were exactly the same.

But the mere fact that we are different doesn't stop us from living together, in harmony -- because in the most important way we are all the same, we are all members of the human race.

We are purposefully not going to eliminate the World Trade Center from our graphic depiction of New York City. Instead, the World Trade Center, as it was graphically represented before the tragedy of September 11th, will remain as a symbol of all that is good about all of us, as people, as members of the human race.

We will also not eliminate the WTC from our NYC bus map. However, what we do propose to do is to launch a movement amongst the youth of the world to have the WTC rebuilt as the "World Together Center" -- in memory of all of the peoples throughout history who have suffered because of bigotry, discrimination and misplaced hatred, and in celebration of the fact that all peoples, while different, stand together as one.

From now on, when our bus line stops at the WTC, it will be stopping at the "World Together Center". And what we are asking visitors to the Archie Comics website like you to do is to send us your ideas for this "World Together Center." We want to know what you think it should look like, what should be inside, who should be inside and what they should be doing. We would also like you to send us your stories, drawings and photos that tell us about ways in which you and members of your community have pulled together to celebrate the differences amongst peoples. Share with us, and others who visit the Archie Comics website, your ideas for the World Together Center, and your acts of understanding, solidarity and kindness towards others. We will put what you send us up on the Archie Comics website at the WTC, and work together with you to advocate the creation of a World Together Center, and to arrange to have included in its archives the materials you send us.
