What are Archie and the Gang doing to protect the environment, reduce climate change and make a difference in pollution?  There are solutions for saving energy and money at the same time.  Here are some practical suggestions:

   "Low carbon diet," says Jughead.

"Switch to better bulbs because traditional bulbs use a lot of carbon emitting energy. We can do better! Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's).  Compact fluorescent light bulbs use a fraction of the electricity. They save on your use of energy and at the same time save you money," says Betty.

"Fluorescent lights have gone compact and upscale. Check them out," says Veronica. Veronica’s makeup room is totally Energy Efficient. She wants her dad, Mr. Lodge, to send in a decorator to make her room totally green.  She says she is Greening up with the use of CFL’s.

Archie points out, "If everyone would replace just three 60-watt incandescent bulbs with CFL bulbs, the pollution savings would be like taking 3.5 million cars off the road".  (Archie is adding two more CFL bulbs to that suggestion because he can’t take his car off the road – he has to pick Ron and Betty up today!)

Mr. Weatherbee reminds us that, "The most energy efficient CFL bulbs carry the Energy Star label – a government approved program".
